Rotating Conveyor Ore Catcher & Dust Suppression Hood
The Challenge
At the ore transfer point of a rotating conveyor, uncontrolled ore spillage and dust generation created environmental and operational issues. The falling ore stream was spread across the belt unevenly, causing edge spillage and increased belt wear. A solution was needed that could rotate with the conveyor while containing dust and directing the ore flow precisely onto the belt center.
Our Solution
Designed a conical ore catching hood with internal guide ribs that channel the falling ore stream into a concentrated flow directed at the belt center. The hood is mounted on a slewing ring bearing allowing full rotation with the conveyor. Internal rib geometry calculated to minimize ore impact angle and reduce dust generation at the transfer point. Structural frame designed for mounting to existing conveyor structure.
Scope of Work
Full mechanical design, conical hood geometry and internal rib calculation, slewing ring bearing selection and integration, structural frame design, complete 3D modeling and engineering documentation.
Result
Significantly reduced dust generation at the conveyor transfer point. Ore stream concentrated onto belt center reducing spillage and extending belt service life.
