The Challenge

The nickel processing plant required a reliable solution to maintain continuous ore flow during scheduled maintenance or emergency shutdowns of the primary production line. Any interruption in ore supply causes significant production losses. The valve needed to handle heavy abrasive ore material, operate reliably in harsh industrial conditions, and be controllable remotely via the plant SCADA system.

Our Solution

Designed a pneumatic diverter valve capable of redirecting the full ferronickel ore flow from the primary line to a backup line. The valve uses a pneumatic drive for fast and reliable actuation, allowing remote control through the existing SCADA system. All moving components engineered to withstand continuous exposure to abrasive ore material. Inlet and outlet flanges designed for direct integration with existing conveyor chutes.

Scope of Work

Full mechanical design, pneumatic drive system selection and integration, flange and sealing system design, SCADA compatibility engineering, complete assembly and detail drawings per GOST standards, bill of materials, author's supervision during manufacturing and installation at Pronico Guatemala facility.

Result

Successfully installed and commissioned at Pronico Guatemala ferronickel processing plant. The valve enables seamless switchover between primary and backup production lines with zero ore flow interruption, ensuring continuous plant operation during maintenance windows and emergency shutdowns.
