The Challenge

The nickel smelting plant required a reliable lifting solution capable of handling bowls filled with molten ore weighing up to 100 tons. The system needed full 360° rotation capability to precisely position the bowl during pouring operations. Standard lifting equipment was not suitable for the extreme thermal and load conditions of the smelting environment.

Our Solution

Designed a custom hook suspension with integrated 360° rotation drive mechanism. The rotation system allows precise positioning of the molten ore bowl during transfer and pouring operations. All components were engineered to withstand high thermal loads and continuous heavy-duty operation in the smelting environment. Complete structural analysis and safety calculations performed for all load-bearing elements.

Scope of Work

Full mechanical design, 3D modeling in SolidWorks, structural calculations for 100-ton load capacity, rotation drive mechanism design, complete engineering documentation, material selection for high-temperature environment, author's supervision during manufacturing and installation.

Result

Successfully installed and commissioned at Pronico Guatemala smelting facility. Steel mill daily capacity increased by 100 tons per day. System continues to operate reliably in continuous heavy-duty smelting conditions.
